Authentic Assessment, a Part of CALOHEA

CALOHEA which stands for Measuring and Comparing Achievements of Learning Outcomes in Higher Education in Asia is a project which help universities improve their curriculum. The Faculty of Civil Engineering of the Institute of Technology of Cambodia has participated and this post will share about Authentic Assessment applied to any course in order to make students gain skills and responsibilities. This project can be achieved due to the co-fund of Erasmus+ and European Union.


The education plays an important role in developing human resources for the national economic growth. CALOHEA is a project which has guided academics from different countries focusing how to develop, revise the existing curriculum to have outcomes for the new digital trends. Teaching students for being able to work and confident in solving real problems in career site is important which was neglected in some courses. Authentic Assessment (AuA) which is introduced in this project is an important method that allow academics to formulate courses and AuA to provide students’ knowledge, skill and responsibilities ready for career. The Civil Engineering Department of the Institute of Technology of Cambodia is making an action plan to design and implement AuA in current programme. The outcome of educations are measured in dimensions and subdimensions which are described in relation to knowledge, skill and responsibility.
